Specialties

I offer trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and relational therapy rooted in Ecological Systems Theory and non-pathologizing psychological perspectives. While I most often reach for Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Contextually-Focused Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (C-DBT); my therapeutic approach is eclectic, collaborative, and non-hierarchical. Going at the speed of safety and consent, my approach adapts to your needs— whether you prefer a solution-focused style, existential exploration, or a blend of both. Together, we’ll work toward greater clarity, resilience, and authentic embodiment.

  • Sometimes help is needed through adjustment periods to orient ourselves, process, or just witness the discomfort of change. There is space for all of these experiences and more in our sessions as you develop practical skills to traverse these “In-between” Spaces with greater self-awareness and clarity.

  • Have you left an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and looking to brush up on skills, continue with treatment goals or interested is a harm reductive alternative post-IOP? We can absolutely focus on skill building, maintenance, and integration to empower your self determination.

  • You and all your parts deserve to be present and celebrated as you navigate cultural, familial, and private experiences. With your guidance, let’s explore how you can honor your ancestry in ways that are authentic and meaningful to you.

  • Finding our own methods or style of coping is a personal and vulnerable process. Let this be a place for you to be curious and messy as you become familiar with your internal world; learning from your wounded and protective parts to discover how best you can show up for and nurture yourself.

  • Vulnerability and rupture in relationships can be portals to deepen self-understanding and connection with others. Together we can reflect on your experiences with connection, tend to wounds where needed, and learn your personal relational style to discover where growth may be welcomed.

  • Portal Psychotherapy believes treating trauma is an embodied and holistic process.

Our sessions are a landing place for us to work with however you are showing up that day. Moving as the speed of consent and safety we will identify, witness, and listen from all of your parts. We will explore what is needed to create a sense of inner trust and safety; using these insights to inform the skill building components of treatment.

Together these practices allow for both your inner world and body to be nurtured on your path to recovery.

  • For some, our Queerness is or has not been safe to embrace. For others we are navigating unique experiences, such as coming out or minority stress.

At Portal Psychotherapy, your queerness is valid.

Using a trauma-informed and non-pathologizing approach, let us explore, affirm, and celebrate your identity as you navigate societal, community, and potentially familial systems of invalidation.
